The tour does not require a high level of fitness. However, you should be in good physical condition and be able to hike, at a leisurely pace on a good paths about an hour.

Your journey begins with your individual arrival in Whitehorse, the gateway to the Yukon. From your first breath of the crisp winter air, you’ll feel the anticipation of the photography adventures ahead. Use the afternoon to settle into this charming city and prepare your camera gear for the upcoming nightly Northern Lights sessions.
Flight from Whitehorse to Dawson City – Tour Start
The adventure officially begins with a morning flight from Whitehorse to Dawson City. Upon arrival, we dive into the fascinating wilderness and history of the Yukon with a guided photo walk along the frozen Yukon River. The glittering ice crystals and soft winter sunlight provide ideal conditions for your first winter landscape shots. The day concludes with a group dinner and a cozy night at the hotel.
Journey to Eagle Plains – Photographic Discoveries in the Wilderness
We set off early for an epic drive through the wild northern landscape. The 430-kilometer journey from Dawson City to Eagle Plains takes us through the heart of Tombstone Territorial Park and the majestic Ogilvie Mountains.
Frequent photo stops along the way let us capture the breathtaking winter scenery: snow-covered peaks, frozen rivers, and vast open spaces. Arriving at the remote Eagle Plains Lodge, we settle in for the next few nights, ready to photograph the Northern Lights.
Aurora Borealis Photography at the Arctic Circle
The next two days are dedicated to photographing the Aurora Borealis. Reaching the Arctic Circle and the Northwest Territories, we find ourselves in one of the best locations on Earth for capturing the magical lights.
With patience and creativity, you’ll photograph the auroras in all their mesmerizing colors and forms. Between sessions, we warm up with hot drinks and soup, savoring the silence of this remote wilderness. During the day, dramatic winter panoramas and expansive mountain vistas provide additional stunning photo opportunities.
Return to Dawson City – Focus on Winter Landscapes
Our journey back to Dawson City takes us once again through the awe-inspiring Ogilvie Mountains and Tombstone Territorial Park. This winter wonderland offers endless possibilities for landscape photography, from soft mountain contours to the crisp, clean lines of frozen rivers.
After arriving in Dawson City, we enjoy a relaxing evening and a delicious dinner at a local restaurant, reflecting on the incredible sights we’ve captured.
Dawson City – Gold Rush Atmosphere and “The Dome”
This day is dedicated to exploring Dawson City and its surroundings. Capture the historic Gold Rush charm of the town and its rustic architecture. Later, we visit the famous “The Dome,” a high vantage point offering panoramic views of the area, perfect for landscape and sunset photography.
Journey to Kluane National Park – Log Cabins at Glanzmann Tours Lodge
We travel along the Klondike and Alaska Highways, making a shopping stop in Whitehorse before continuing to the picturesque Kluane National Park.
Log Cabin Serenity – Cozy Sauna – Spectacular Ice Photography
The second part of the journey is spent nestled in the wilderness near Kluane National Park, staying in the charming and romantic log cabins of the Glanzmann base. For a few days, you’ll immerse yourself in the absolute tranquility of the wild.
Amid the warmth of a crackling wood stove in your cabin, breathtaking mountain landscapes, untouched nature, and enchanting Northern Lights await you just steps away.
The cozy accommodations offer freedom and flexibility, allowing you to explore the stunning surroundings at your own pace. Surrounded by majestic mountains, expansive forests, and frozen lakes, this retreat is the perfect haven for capturing the serenity of the wilderness and creating unforgettable landscape photographs.
A warm, inviting outdoor sauna adds to the charm of this winter haven, offering relaxation in the heart of nature.
Two exciting day trips focus on landscape photography across the expansive ice surfaces of the lakes in and around the park. The ice photography here is truly unparalleled—featuring fantastic textures and dramatic cracks that weave intricate spiderweb patterns across the frozen expanses.
Return to Whitehorse
Our photography journey concludes with a return to Whitehorse. While the tour ends here, the memories of awe-inspiring Northern Lights and the unique beauty of the Yukon will live on through the images you’ve captured.

Accommodations
Enjoy rustic cabin charm at Glanzmann Tours Lodge, nestled in the tranquil wilderness of Kluane National Park. Cabins feature wood heating, LED lanterns, and candlelight for a cozy atmosphere. Amenities include cooking facilities, water canisters, and a nearby outhouse. Couples will have private cabins, while two to three solo travelers may share.
A sauna with a shower is available for relaxation. Camera batteries and devices can be recharged during the day using solar power at the lodge.
Meals
During your stay at Glanzmann Tours Lodge, breakfast and dinner are included. Meals are communal, with a buffet-style breakfast and dinner prepared for you, followed by group cleanup. Meals during hotel stays are not included.
We strongly recommend several batteries/battery packs. It is possible to recharge the batteries every other day at the Glanzmann tours base at the solar power supply.
